Our review

The HODANS Galaxy Projector turns any dark room into a mesmerising aurora experience. Swirling green, blue, red, and white lights flow across your ceiling while twinkling stars complete the planetarium effect. With 33 light combinations, 4-level brightness, and 4-level flow speed, you can dial in exactly the atmosphere you want.

The 3-in-1 design combines the light projector with a built-in Bluetooth speaker and 8 white noise sounds (ocean waves, forest birds, rain, lullaby). The rhythm mode syncs the lights to your music — aurora waves pulse with the beat, making it work for both relaxing sleep environments and party atmospheres.

A remote control handles everything: effects, brightness, speed, timer (1hr, 2hr, 4hr auto-off), volume, and mode selection. The projector is plug-in (USB powered) and works best positioned in the centre of a room for maximum ceiling coverage.

The honest downsides: it must be plugged in (no battery), and the included cable is short. The Bluetooth speaker is adequate but not impressive — fine for white noise and background music, not for audiophile listening. The remote requires direct line-of-sight to the sensor. And 5% one-star reviews cite reliability issues (stops working after months). But at under $30 with 8K+ bought per month, it is the most popular galaxy projector on Amazon for good reason.

FAQ

Does it work in a lit room?

It works best in a dark room. With ambient light, the effects are less visible. The 4-level brightness adjustment helps, but for the full aurora effect, dim or turn off the lights.

Can I use it as a sleep aid?

Yes — the combination of gentle aurora waves + white noise sounds (ocean, rain, lullaby) + timer auto-off makes it an effective sleep aid. Many reviewers report falling asleep to it.

Does it need batteries?

No — it is USB-powered and must be plugged in. There is no battery-powered option.

How much of the ceiling does it cover?

When placed in the centre of a room, it covers most of the ceiling. Placed against a wall, it covers approximately half. The semicircular projection design is optimised for ceiling coverage.
