Our review
The Amazon Basics Cat Tree is a straightforward, well-built climbing tower that does exactly what cats need without overcomplicating things. Multiple carpeted platforms at different heights for climbing and lounging, 4 jute rope scratching posts, and a round bed at the top with raised sides for sleeping.
Assembly takes about 10 minutes with the included Allen wrench — screw the posts into the platforms, stack the levels, done. The square base sits stable in a room corner. The carpet is thick, real-feeling apartment carpet (not cheap fleece), and the jute rope on the posts is tightly wrapped and satisfying for cats to scratch.
At 31.5 inches (Medium) or taller (Large), it provides enough height for cats to survey the room from above — which cats instinctively love. The round top bed fits cats up to about 10 lbs comfortably. For larger cats, the Large version is recommended.
The downsides: it can wobble with heavier or very active cats — consider the wall-mount anchor. The top bed is small for large breeds. Some reviewers report carpet fraying after months of heavy scratching. And the Medium size only has one real lounging spot (the top). But at under $36 from a trusted brand with 74% five-star, this is the best value entry point to cat trees.

FAQ
Is it sturdy enough for adult cats?
Yes for standard adult cats up to about 10 lbs. Heavier or very active cats may cause wobbling — use the included wall anchor for extra stability. The Large version is sturdier for bigger cats.
How long does assembly take?
About 10 minutes. All tools are included (Allen wrench). Instructions are picture-based and straightforward. Building it upside down (top first) can make assembly easier.
Will my cat actually use it?
74% five-star says overwhelmingly yes. Most cats take to it immediately, especially if placed near a window. A sprinkle of catnip can help reluctant cats warm up to it.
Does it fit in small apartments?
Yes — the 15.7 x 15.7 inch square base fits neatly in a room corner. The Medium size (31.5 inches tall) is compact enough for small spaces while still giving cats climbing height.
